Doug Sonnemann has been a Douglas County resident since 1982 having grown up in Sparks, Nevada. He graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural and resource economics from the University of Nevada, Reno and received a Master’s Degree from UNR in 1982. He has been employed in the Assessor’s office since 1988 starting as a real property appraiser and rising to the position of Senior Appraiser. He is certified in both real and personal property appraisal. Doug was first elected Assessor in 2002 and was sworn into office in January, 2003. Doug was also elected to the Gardnerville Town Board from 1991 to 1998, serving two years as chairman. He was an active member of the Douglas County Engine Company, the volunteer fire department in Minden, for 24 years. Doug and his wife Val make their home in Gardnerville with their two children Cole 15, who attends Douglas High School and Kelly 12, who attends Carson Valley Middle School. Doug enjoys camping, gardening and participating in sports activities with Cole & Kelly, including soccer and softball. |
